Our multi-step manufacturing process begins by forming clay from shale that is mined in company-owned pits in Southeastern Ohio.

The natural clay is hand-pressed into flat tiles that are trimmed by hand and left to dry for eight hours. A thick coating of clear or colored glaze is applied, by hand, of course, to insure durability and long lasting beauty.

In the final step, Epro tiles are fired in a 2,000° F kiln for 18 hours, hardening the surface to an indestructible finish that maintains its gloss and resists wear in all types of environments, indoors or out.
